Galaxy Z Flip5 A different review for the unique Style
Samsung debuted its next series of foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5, at the end of last month.
The South Korean company also upgraded its range of smartwatches and tablets during the Unpacked presentation, but it was the “foldables” that stole the show.
Although earlier iterations of the Galaxy Z Flip received just minor changes, Samsung eventually made significant enhancements in 2023.
For a few days, I tried the smartphone and analyzed the key new features of the new edition. Check out what’s fresh down below.

Screen
Screens are always a strength for Samsung, particularly on its premium products. It was the same with the Galaxy Z Flip 5.
The exterior screen, which has increased in size from 1.9 to 3.4 inches, attracts notice. The screen isn’t only larger.
The screen is now more functional, allowing the depiction of several fascinating widgets, including as the calendar, weather, alarm clock, and other lightweight apps, which are featured in One UI 5.1.1.

The display now supports interaction with more complicated programs, such as WhatsApp Messenger and YouTube.
The app’s availability is presently limited, but it is something that should be worked on and enhanced in future editions over time.
However, there is one drawback: the maximum resolution is HD.
Even so, because users will be engaging with the internal display the most of the time, this should not have a significant impact on their experience.
The inside screen is 6.7 inches and uses AMOLED technology with Full HD + resolution and a refresh rate of 120 Hz.
Samsung did not manage to entirely erase the crease in the center of the screen this time.
To be honest, it becomes nearly invisible after a short period of use. Users will notice it when they glide their fingertips across the centre of the screen.
As a first-time folding user, I found the crease to be far less bothersome than it seems at first appearance.
hinges
Samsung made an adjustment in one of the most criticized areas: the hinges.
The new mechanism totally fills the gap that was previously present in both of the brand’s foldables.
Current technology is smaller and lighter than prior ones, and it provides some immediate advantages.
The most noticeable changes are the weight and thickness, both of which have dropped somewhat.
In addition, the latest model comes with water-resistant certification as well as dust resistance, which was not available in prior editions.

Performance
The Galaxy Z Flip5, like the smartphones in the “S23” family, is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy chip, an optimized version of Qualcomm’s CPU for Samsung.
Anyone who follows the South Korean corporation’s news regularly knows that the company is devoted to make its own chips viable.
However, while the Exynos family components are less expensive, they perform somewhat worse when compared to Qualcomm’s top-of-the-line CPUs.
The Galaxy Z Flip5 features 8 GB of RAM in addition to the Qualcomm processor and is available in Brazil in configurations with up to 512 GB of internal storage.
It is undoubtedly one of the high-end gadgets with the greatest performance introduced this year, like its “relatives” from the “S” series.
The smartphone did not exhibit any performance issues or difficulty in executing any tasks during the testing time.
This implies that consumers who use it to shoot photos or access social media should have no issues.
The smartphone also performed impressively in games such as “Call of Duty: Mobile“ and “Genshin Impact.”
However, depending on the game, it may warm up somewhat.
The temperature was not so strong throughout the testing that it interfered with the experience.
However, it was a temperature spike that could not be ignored.
Battery
The battery has not been upgraded and has the same 3,700 mAh capacity as the previous generation.
Because of the inclusion of the previously mentioned Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy, Samsung claims that the smartphone offers more effective battery management than prior models.
Samsung says that the smartphone may provide more energy autonomy even with a battery that is identical to the previous generation.
It’s worth noting that the phone comes with a 25 W charger in the package, which charges it in just under 1h30.
cameras
The primary sensor of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 is 12 MP, while the ultrawide sensor is 12 MP.
In general, it may provide quite intriguing effects in images and films, even at night or in low-light conditions.
The primary sensor, which can capture films in 4K resolution, is the centerpiece.
Unlike other handsets in its pricing range, the Z Flip 5 lacks a telephoto lens. This is owing to the device’s concept, which, according to the company, is centered on “lifestyle.”
This indicates that the primary aims are to provide a clean appearance, compactness, and mobility.
Customers who want a more powerful zoom will have to choose the Galaxy Z Fold 5, which is not a small phone.
The front camera has a resolution of 10 MP and can record films in 4K quality at 30 frames per second.
The device’s “Flex Mode” alludes to the increased photo-taking options. This incorporates a new and better 3.4-inch external display as an alternative to snapping selfies using the device’s rear camera.
Is it worthwhile?
Although there has been no “disruptive” news about the hardware or cameras, the improved hinge and bigger exterior screen (with greater functionality) constitute a significant advancement.
If this is your first time using a foldable, it is unquestionably one of the most cost-effective solutions.
Although the purchase needs a significant investment, the Galaxy Z Flip5 is a smartphone with a lengthy usable life.
It comes equipped with One UI 5.1, which is based on Android 13, and is promised four operating system upgrades and five years of security patches, according to Samsung.
The Galaxy Z Flip5 is currently in pre-sale in the domestic market and can be found at the country’s major shops.
Anyone who purchases the 256 GB version before August 25 will receive a unique offer, allowing them to take twice as much storage (512 GB).
The smartphone’s initial delivery are expected for August 11th.
