The LG G4 OLED TVs were just unveiled, and a release date is anticipated soon. Everything you need to know about LG’s flagship OLED televisions is provided here.
At the recently concluded CES 2024, South Korean tech giant LG unveiled its next-gen OLED TVs. This includes commercial-range TVs with super-premium panels like the transparent TV, C4 OLED, G4 OLED, and more.
The G4 OLEDs are the successor of LG’s G3 OLED, introduced last year, and have been among the most recommended flagship OLED TVs.
While the firm is still getting ready for the TV’s worldwide release, the forthcoming G4 OLED was given a restricted media preview. Apart from these teases, the business has formally released a few specifics, but most have been part of the ongoing rumors.
For this reason, we’ve included all the information you require, including the LG G4 OLED’s estimated retail price, release date, features, and technical details.
LG G4 OLED release date
LG has not yet disclosed the date of release for the G4 OLED TVs. The G2 OLED was released in April 2022, while the G3 OLED arrived in March 2023. Historically, the business has delivered its G-series TVs in March or April.
We expect the company to follow tradition and unveil the G4 OLED in early April 2024.
LG G4 OLED: Price speculation
The cost of LG’s G4 OLED TVs is yet unknown. The corporation has not provided us with any information regarding the expected cost of the TVs, nor has it disclosed the retail price to us.
That being said, one of the drawbacks of these premium TVs is their lack of affordability. With every iteration, the corporation has been raising the price; the launch price of G2 was less expensive than that of G3.
This may indicate that the price of the future LG G4 TVs will surpass that of the G3 models.
But as with most stuff from LG, the prices come down soon after the launch thanks to various discounts and promotions. So, if you’re looking to buy the LG G4 OLED TV but do not intend to spend extra, we’d suggest not jumping the gun right after the launch and waiting at least a month or so to get the same TV at a much lower price.
LG G4 OLED: Specifications, features, design & more
The LG G4 OLED will be available in multiple size variants, from the affordable ones at 55-inch and 65-inch to the massive 77-inch, 80-inch, and a new 93-inch option.
LG Display, the company that makes these panels, says that these panels are at least 30% brighter than conventional displays.
The G4 OLED will have a new Alpha 11 processor, a massive upgrade over the predecessor, and could be up to 4 times more powerful than the Alpha 9 chipset.
This new processor’s key features are Max Peak Highlighter, AI Picture Pro mode, AI Director Processing, and more. Together, these features can enhance the brightness of a specific scene by up to 150%, better define objects on the screen, and enhance the colors in the imagery.
It will also feature Dolby Vision Filmmaker Mode, which lets you enjoy movies and shows with Dolby Vision HDR and view them with the same minimal processing level found in regular Filmmaker Mode.
The Alpha 11 processor will also help enhance the audio output of the TV and will now feature improved virtual 11.1.2 surround sound.
In terms of design, the LG G4 OLED will carry the same thin form factor. If you plan to mount the TV on a wall, it will sit flush with the wall without any gaps whatsoever. You’ll also get a near-bezel-less display, resulting in the content showing right up to the edge of the TV.
The LG G4 OLED will also be great for gaming. It will have four HDMI 2.1 ports, LG’s Game Optimiser menu, and ALLM and VRR. The TV will support a screen refresh rate of 120Hz to 144Hz and will be the first LG TV to have full Nvidia G-Sync certification.
An in-house WebOS 24 operating system will power the LG G4 OLED. The company claims this TV will support up to five years of operating system updates.
While the operating system might not have as many apps and games as the Google TV platform, it is still great to have software support to keep the TV updated with the latest features until 2028.
Is it wise to purchase the LG G4 OLED right away?
Once available, the LG G4 OLED would be among the most powerful and best TVs on the market. Not only will it come with a powerful processor, but it will also have a ton of AI-powered features and probably the best and brightest OLED panel on any TV.
LG’s commitment to offering long-term software support, which prolongs the life of a costly TV, is also the icing on the cake.
If design, aesthetics, and visual experience are a priority for you, then the LG G4 OLED should be an easy choice. Remember that you might have to spend a bit on an external sound bar and be mentally prepared to spend more than most regular TVs, so if you wait a bit more, you might get the TV at a slightly lower price thanks to deals and discounts.
