July seems like a much-needed break in the gaming calendar after six months of nonstop hits.
While there are still some games to look forward to next month, the offerings have a more casual feel.
Most of the games on this list are more about positive feelings than end-of-the-world terror.
There’s a relaxing atmosphere, widely anticipated PC ports, and a cute strategy to look forward to.
RPG lovers may enjoy both The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie and Atelier Marie Remake: The Alchemist of Salburg, two journeys through vastly distinct worlds centred by a likeable ensemble of wizards and alchemists.
Do you like something more relaxed? Then watch Oxenfree II, which blends humorous banter with a Twin Peaks-style mystery to produce an intriguing look at conspiracy theories and cults.
On the AAA front, Capcom is bringing a dinosaur crisis to console and PC in the shape of Exoprimal.
Imagine a mix of Anthem and Overwatch set in Jurassic Park, and you’ll get a fair sense of what to anticipate here.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie – July 7
It’s been a terrific year for RPGs, and The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie is another game in that genre that will fill up hours of your time.
This new edition in the series follows three protagonists–Rean Scwharzer from Cold Steel IV, Lloyd Bannings from Trails to Azure, and new character C–across unique narratives and closes the door on the Crossbell and Cold Steel Arcs from prior games.
The new United Front system allows you to augment your talents by using the strength of your comrades, and you’ll be able to draw on additional skills from the Crossroads System along your quest.
Oxenfree II: Lost Signals – July 12
Oxenfree II doesn’t appear to deviate significantly from its predecessor’s structure, but it does appear to tighten up on that famous coming-of-age story with more refined narrative-adventure gameplay.
This eerie narrative, like the original, offers a distinct graphical style, interactive discussions, and environmental puzzles, as well as new characters, cults, and plenty of banter.
If you have a Netflix account, keep an eye on your mobile storefront because Oxenfree II will be introduced to the Netflix gaming library on the first of the month.
Atelier Marie Remake: The Alchemist of Salburg – July 13
Not every RPG needs to be focused on saving the world from a cataclysmic cosmic threat! In this remake of the charming Atelier Marie, it’s up to you to help the alchemist pass her exams and enjoy life at the same time.
For the remake, developer Gust has gone all-out with updated graphics that blend 2D and 3D animations, expanded tutorials, improved navigation, and a new Unlimited Mode option that’ll allow you to play the game at your own chill pace.
Exoprimal – July 14
Dino Crisis may be as extinct as the liquid fossils that power your automobile, but Capcom is releasing a new game about raging ancient animals this month.
Exoprimal is a team-based action game in which mankind uses cutting-edge exosuit technology to fight back against a literal flood of Cretaceous-era animals.
With dinosaurs on the loose and even more terrible monsters lurking around, mankind is racing against the clock to escape a disaster 65 million years in the making.
Jagged Alliance 3 – July 14
What happens when a resource-rich country is overrun by a paramilitary organisation and its president goes missing?
You open your wallet and hire a tiny mercenary army to help defend Grand Chien from nefarious armed forces.
Jagged Alliance 3 is all about tactical turn-based battle, colourful soldiers of fortune, and improving your forces as they move beyond enemy lines, much like the previous games.
In this sequel to the 1999 blockbuster, you may control territory, teach locals to watch your back, and defend against opposing forces in an actual warzone.
Pikmin 4 – July 21
A decade has gone since the previous Pikmin game was launched, but the little animals are now back and eager to help.
Chill vibes, tactical gameplay, and hectic Dandori Battles are just some of the elements you can anticipate from the return of this Nintendo IP, and Pikmin 4 is shaping up to be a welcome experience for newbies to the genre.
Remnant 2 – July 25
After Remnant: From The Ashes proved to be a sleeper smash with its combination of Souls-like action and a loot-and-shoot loop, Gunfire Games hopes to build on that foundation with some bold concepts.
Remnant 2 is trying to be larger and better than its predecessor, with numerous rougher aspects of the previous game being further improved as well as several strongly desired quality-of-life adjustments.
It also features a fantastic dog to assist you when confronted with post-apocalyptic monsters.
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart – July 26
Like one of the best Beastie Boys songs, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is intergalactic and planetary.
A fresh PC port of the 2021 PS5 game, this version packs the original adventure with a host of new PC-specific features, including unlocked frame rates, new ray traced features, and ultrawide monitor support.
Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons – July 27
Double Dragon is making a comeback from the shadowlands of almost-forgotten video game brands this month with a rogue-like variation on its basic concept.
With new tag-team gameplay, extra characters, and upgrades to invest in, Billy and Jimmy’s return looks like a fun blast from the pixelated past.
Disney Illusion Island – July 28
With its beautiful animations and slick multiplayer gameplay, Disney Illusion Island looks like a love letter to the House of Mouse.
Illusion Island, an appealing adventure starring Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Goofy, and Donald Duck, would appeal to anybody who grew up playing Genesis games like Castle of Illusion or World of Illusion.
Add some sentimental and family-friendly elements to the platforming formula, and you’ve got yourself a recipe for Disney magic.
