In order to compete with Samsung’s 110-inch The Wall, LG released the 118-inch Micro LED TV.

In 2019 and 2020, respectively, Samsung released the 292-inch The Wall Luxury 8K TV and the 110-inch The Wall Micro LED TV.

It hasn’t had a direct rival since then. This is so because, over the years, no other company has introduced a Micro LED TV of a comparable size.

Well, that is now altering. At the CEDIA Expo 2023, LG introduced a 118-inch MAGNIT Micro LED 4K TV.

The 110-inch Samsung The Wall is currently most directly challenged by the new 118-inch LG MAGNIT.

118-inch LG MAGNIT features- Micro LED TV

A scaled-down version of the 136-inch LG MAGNIT TV introduced last year is the 118-inch LG MAGNIT 4K Micro LED TV.

The newest TV has a 118-inch Micro LED panel with 4K resolution, as the name says. It supports HDR10 and HDR10 Pro and has a refresh rate of 120Hz and a brightness level of 250 nits.

The TV is powered by an LG Alpha 9 processor, which also powers the WebOS operating system.

Two 50-watt speakers and connectivity with AirPlay 2 and Miracast are further features.

The 118-inch LG MAGNIT costs a fortune, as you might expect. The asking price is $237,000 for it.

That indicates that it is significantly more expensive than Samsung The Wall 110-inch, which has a US price of $149,999.

Don’t get me wrong: I’d adore a TV this huge since the immersion you’d receive from it would be entirely different from anything else.

However, only a select handful will have the space and, more critically, the cash for a TV of this size.

The company hasn’t yet announced when the TV will be available.

LG promises flawless blacks and outstanding contrast from its eight million human hair-sized, self-illuminating pixels.

The TV also has LG’s Alpha 9 CPU, which is used in devices like the LG C3 and LG G3 and seeks to increase color fidelity and reduce picture noise.

Additionally, the screen boasts a 120Hz refresh rate, so who knows, maybe we’ll list this as one of the top gaming TVs for oligarchs who love the PS5.

A television for a privileged Buyer

The MAGNIT range, on the other hand, employs micro-LED, a state-of-the-art technology being hailed as OLED-beating that offers extreme levels of contrast, detail, and shocking brightness (Samsung is also a proponent of the tech and believes that 10,000 nits is achievable – that’s five times what you get from products like the Samsung QN90C).

In spite of the fact that 99.9% of us can’t afford the technology of the future, which comes with a large price tag, there are more and more reasonably priced enormous TVs available.

LG OLED M3 announced

The LG OLED M3 (and LG Signature OLED M) is a new OLED TV series that LG has launched alongside the 118-inch MAGNIT.

Three different sizes of this TV are available: 77, 83, and 97 inches. All LG OLED M3 models include a 120Hz refresh rate and a 4K resolution.

It has LG’s Zero Connect box, which eliminates the need for cords by wirelessly transmitting audio and video to the TV.

The OLED M3 is, in LG’s words, the “world’s first consumer TV with a wireless connectivity solution capable of real-time video and audio transmission at up to 4K 120Hz.”

The cost and availability of the OLED M3 series have not yet been disclosed by LG.

The 118-inch MAGNIT TV, according to LG USA’s senior vice president Michael Kosla, is the “sweet spot” between the 136-inch micro-LED and the mind-blowing 97-inch cordless OLED M3, which retails for $29,999 .

You can’t disagree that the 118-inch sits between two models, but it’s still a significant step forward from the M3.
