Audictus Dopamine Pro are TWS wireless headphones for $75 . They have many advantages and several disadvantages. You can read about all of them in this review.
Audictus Dopamine Pro – good TWS headphones
In short, it looks like this: good sound quality, strong bass, active noise reduction (ANC), wireless charging case, rubber and foam gaskets included, splash resistance, touch operation, nice microphone, good comfort and a total of several hours of work. Price: $75 for the start.
Sounds tempting right? However, it is worth reading the entire review, because small shortcomings also appear. Here is my opinion of the TWS Audictus Dopamine Pro headphones .
Case with wireless charging
You can rarely find a case with Qi induction charging in relatively cheap, in-ear wireless headphones. Literally a few days earlier, I tested headphones for $250 that did not have this function, so in the price class up to $85, this is, in my opinion, a big advantage.
Just put the case on the front (side with the word Audictus) on the charger and the refilling process will start automatically. Wireless charging is slower, but more convenient. Of course, we can also use the USB-C port, which is located on the opposite side of the case.
Battery life
Both Audictus Dopamine Pro headphones have built-in 45 mAh rechargeable batteries. They are enough for about 4.5 – 5 hours of continuous listening to music with the ANC turned off and the volume set to 60%. This result is sufficient in headphones for less than $75, although this additional hour would be welcome. After turning on the ANC, this time is reduced by several dozen minutes (up to about 4 hours).
However, it should be emphasized that with the case, the total listening time is extended to 17-18 hours, depending on the settings. It is true that the headphones have a total of 90 mAh and the case is 400 mAh, but it is known that there are always some losses during charging. Therefore, it will actually replenish the energy approximately 3 times to full.
The charging time depends on the type of charging (wireless / wired) and the power of the charger. It can take up to 3 hours when both the case and headphones are completely discharged. Charging the headphones in the case is faster.
ANC at a low price – does it work?
It works, but moderately. About a second after turning on the active noise reduction, you can hear that the noise from the environment slightly weakens. The effect is that ANC does reduce overall noise slightly, but it certainly does not remove more pronounced noise. Distant traffic, the hum of the air conditioning or computer fan – these will be slightly dampened. However, close noise from internal combustion engines, conversations, typing, or general office buzz will not be effectively reduced.
In short: If you’re working in a fairly quiet environment but are annoyed by environmental noises, the ANC in these headphones can help. The street of the city will be unfortunately insufficient.
4 pairs of gaskets are included
The package includes 1x foam gaskets (memory foam, universal size) and 3x silicone gaskets in sizes S / M / L. Here I would like to highlight three things. First of all: the largest erasers are really big – for me it’s an advantage, because that’s what I use every day. Second: the quality of the seals is good. They are comfortable, soft and stick to the ears well. Third: they provide sufficient passive insulation.
Quality and comfort
The Audictus Dopamine Pro headphones have a classic design with an elongated bottom part. I appreciate that they are mostly made of matte plastic that doesn’t show smudges or fingerprints. This is quite important, because the headphones are operated by touch.
At the bottom you can see the charging contacts for the headphones inside the case. The microphone openings (for voice calls and ANC) are also visible in three places. The headphones also have built-in small LEDs that indicate Bluetooth pairing and battery charge status.
The headphones look minimalistic, but quite elegant. Basically there is nothing to complain about. Appearance is a matter of taste. The more important thing is that the headphones fit comfortably in the ears, are quite light and do not fall out (at least not for me, but it depends on the individual characteristics of the auricle).
Watertightness
The Audictus Dopamine Pro headphones are splash-proof, in accordance with the IPx4 standard. It can therefore be assumed that they are resistant to light moisture and can be used during physical activity. They are reasonable headphones for sports , but you should avoid rain and excessive, prolonged contact with sweat. If you sweat a lot, wipe them off from time to time.
Touch controls
Here, too, I found positive and negative sides. The outer surface on top of both earbuds is touch-sensitive. You do not need to press anything, which is an advantage in the case of in-ear headphones. More pressure would increase the pressure inside the ear canal, which could cause discomfort. There is no such problem in Audictus Dopamine Pro headphones.
Touch recognition is sufficient when we hold the finger a little longer. For example, one touch to pause / play and hold it to play the next track or reject a call. These gestures are OK. But…
Quick touches are not so well recognized anymore. Even with a quick double tap to turn on the ANC, there is sometimes a problem. Quite often I had to do this task several times, because the headphones recognized only one touch of a finger and instead of ANC they pause.
Sometimes the problem is even bigger with triple or quadruple touches. Fortunately, you don’t need to use them too often (triple turns on the voice assistant on your phone, and quadruple activates the low signal delay mode).
In short: Basic touch operation like play / pause / next track / answer calls is quite convenient. However, the detection of several touches at once should be refined.
It is also worth emphasizing that headphones removed from your ears do not automatically pause the music. Perhaps this is a feature of my pre-release copy. There is a chance that this feature will appear in newer firmware versions.
The quality of the microphone
You can assess the quality of the voice recorded by Audictus Dopamine Pro headphones on the recording below. Let me know in the comments what you think about it.
Signal strength and delay
Strength is very good. I was able to leave my phone in one room and move freely around the apartment and balcony, and the music on the Audictus Dopamine Pro headphones played steadily, without interruptions and with good quality.
The delays are average. They are not disturbing when watching movies on your phone, but can sometimes be noticeable when playing dynamic games (e.g. shooters). Then you can turn on the low delay mode (touch the handset’s touch surface four times). The sound quality will drop a little – it is one hundred percent enough for games, but for music it is better to turn off this mode.
Volume
Theoretically, the manufacturer gives the dynamics of the drivers at 90 dB, but in my opinion there is a bit more. In any case, I consider the volume to be fully sufficient, especially for people who care about their hearing. The most pleasant listening experience was around 60-70% of the volume
Sound quality
Audictus Dopamine Pro offer a V-shaped sound, i.e. strong low tones, slightly withdrawn midrange and strong treble. At a typical volume of 50-70%, the sound is in my opinion quite warm, and the low tones dominate. However, the louder we listen, the more the treble is amplified. This is a good thing for these headphones, because the sound becomes brighter, cooler and a bit more spacious.
I honestly believe that the sound quality is the biggest advantage of these headphones. At the price of $75, they offer a few more or less useful curiosities, but in terms of sound, they are one of the most attractive offers in this budget.
I recommend the headphones to people who like strong, but not muddy bass and clear, strong sopranos. The sound is fun, lively and quite dynamic. Maybe it’s not impressive with resolution and separation, especially in the low and midrange, but the music is pleasant to listen to.
Kendrick Lamar – Backseat Freestyle
First, a bass test. One important thing must be emphasized here – the headphones have strong low tones, but they are not muddy and do not obscure the treble. They are quite weighted and fleshy, but not exaggerated. They are long and soft, but at the same time well controlled. They do not deform at high volume. They are just strong and clean. The midrange here is actually withdrawn and warmed. The high tones are exposed, well separated and detailed. Their coolness is a good counterbalance to the warm bottom and midrange. The scene is of average width and depth – the bottom and center play close to the ears, and the top extends further to the sides.
Michael Jackson – Dangerous
Again a strong, weighted down, quite warm bass and an equally strong treble (fortunately not prickly and without hissing sounds). The midrange is clearer and a little cooler than in the previous track – that’s good because the vocals sound great. A big plus for good dynamics and quite good clarity and sound separation. The voice and bass are played close to the ears, and the treble is played a little further away. The scene is a little deeper than its width. The nature of the headphones fits well with this piece.
Nu: Tone, Lea Lea – Tides
The bottom is great. The bass line is long, clean, smooth and perfectly controlled at any volume. The midrange, along with the vocal, is slightly warmed and withdrawn, but still present in the music being played. It sounds a bit plastic (like out of a plastic box), but I’ve noticed this effect in a few songs, so it’s not the norm for these headphones. Treble above 80% of the volume becomes quite sharp and metallic. It starts to resemble some headphones with tweeter armature drivers. It’s not annoying yet, but treble-sensitive people may already feel discomfort. On the plus side, I certainly include the overall cleanliness and separation.
Death – Empty Words
At a lower volume, the midrange is too poorly exposed and overwhelmed by the bass and treble. However, the overall sound is pleasant and relatively warm. This changes at high volume. Then the bass of the drums is too weighted down, the cymbals are too sharp, and the midrange becomes clear, but it has no chance to compete with the top and bottom. The detail is OK, but the separation is pale – some sounds mix with each other and become indistinct. Overall, I find the Audictus Dopamine Pro headphones not suitable for heavier guitar music. They are much better at a variety of electronics.
The Prodigy – Light Up The Sky
Surprisingly, it is not low, but high tones that dominate here. The sound is shaped like a very sharp letter V. The bottom is strong, the top is very strong, and the midrange is withdrawn. Up to 3/4 of the volume is fine, above this the cold, metallic highs get a bit too sharp. They are not hissing but prickly. The dynamics is average, you can hear the compression in the treble, but the general detail is quite good. Sharp electronic sounds in the style of The Prodigy are sometimes close to heavier guitar pieces. In other words, they fall on average with these headphones, especially at high volume.
Audictus Dopamine Pro – opinion
Audictus Dopamine Pro are great for listening to genres such as techno, ambient, drum and bass, jazz, pop, rap, hip-hop, soul and gentle guitar and vocal tracks. Here, I recommend them honestly, because they guarantee a soft, strong bass that is not muffled. Plus a slightly warm midrange and a clear, clean, strong treble. They just sound good. However, in my opinion, their character does not suit heavy guitar / metal music and sharp electronics in the style of contemporary The Prodigy.
The headphones have a case with Qi wireless charging, active noise reduction (works gently, but it’s still better than no ANC), nice microphones, sufficient battery life, 4 pairs of intrathecal gaskets and touch control, all for $75 to start selling.
My overall impression of the test is positive. Using Audictus Dopamine Pro headphones every day was just comfortable and enjoyable.
