EV scooter Maker
Lohia Machinery Limited (LML) has announced that the company will make a comeback and the firm has also informed that this time it will exclusively be an electric two-wheeler maker.
The information at hand is very limited but the manufacturer confirms that it has been backed by “various technology companies to introduce LML in the EV market”, however, no names or connections have been disclosed so far.
“We’re extremely excited to make a significant comeback. We are actively working on the product development strategies in order to introduce a highly innovative product equipped with the best of technology to enable & strengthen the urban mobility space.
We would like to empower the upper-middle and urban segments of society with our range of premium products to drive the change.” said Yogesh Bhatia, MD and CEO, LML Electric.
It is safe to believe that LML Electric’s first product could be an all-electric scooter and the brand plans on rivalling the Bajaj Chetak just like the yesteryears.
It remains to be seen if LML Electric brings along a sporty electric motorcycle concept with enough performance and the looks that give a callback to the LML Laser from the past.
LML Plan to comeback- EV scooter
LML plans to invest roughly ₹1,000 crore over the next three to five years and has started looking for sites for setting up its production facility. The company also explained it intends to set up nearly 1,000 LML dealerships across the country, though the eventual number and locations will be based two factors: market potential and demand.
As for the LML EV, the company has said absolutely nothing about the actual product, including if it will be a 100 per cent made-in-India offering or if it will work with another OEM to make its upcoming EV in India. However, we will be sure to keep you posted as soon as we learn more about LML’s plans.
