First, let’s talk about the fit. The T90 is comfortable, stays on pretty much, and doesn’t irritate the ear.
You’ll hear a squishy sound when putting these earbuds in, probably due to their silicone ear tips.
These ear tips come in three different sizes. LG’s Tone Free app can test to see if your ears are properly sealed, and lets you adjust the sound EQ with presets like Immersive, Natural, Bass Boost, Treble Boost, and 3D Sound Stage.
The last one sounds fake — I suggest you stick to Immersive for the best listening experience. Then there’s head tracking, and Dolby Atmos, which are combined on phones that support this spatial audio format.
Head tracking is great if you’re watching a show such as Stranger Things on your smartphone, but don’t use this when walking. Otherwise, you’ll find the audio off center as you’re moving around. Most streaming services such as Netflix or Prime Video don’t support Dolby Atmos on phones, but you do get some feel of height channels. At least, I thought so. If you want the proper Dolby Atmos experience, you’ll need a streaming service such as Apple Music or Tidal. On phones that don’t support Dolby Atmos, you’ll still get virtual surround and virtual head tracking with the T90. Overall, audio is clear for the highs, and the mids, with a nice punchy bass.
The LG Tone Free T90 packs good audio and comfort. Its Dolby Atmos spatial audio features make watching shows on your phone a lot more theatrical, while music sounds more dynamic and immersive.
T90 LG TONE Free is World’s First Dolby Atmos Wireless Earbuds With Head Tracking Support
LG Electronics has announced the 2022 true wireless earbuds lineup from the TONE Free series for the Singapore market.
This encompasses the T90, T60 and TF8, each designed to deliver incredible sound while offering maximum comfort.
Most notably, the T90 earbuds has built-in Dolby Atmos support. Combined with the Dolby Head Tracking feature, this allows sound to move along with the listener’s head movements to keep them immersed in the scene. The T90s are also the first wireless earbuds to come with Dolby’s audio virtualiser, which improves immersion and spatial dimensionality for stereo-like performance.
A fully charged case offers a battery life of up to 29 hours of playtime with ANC turned off, and up to 16 hours with ANC turned on. The earbuds themselves deliver up to nine hours of playback with ANC off, and up to five hours with ANC on.
The LG TONE Free fit TF8, like its name suggests, is designed for fitness.
Their built-in SwivelGrip technology ensure that the earbuds, which are fitted with hypoallergenic ear gels, stay snug no matter the intensity of the activity.
At the same time, the lightweight design promotes better air circulation. They’re rated IP67 for water resistance, and also come with ANC and HSP.
The TF8s have a comparable battery life of 10 hours, with up to 30 hours when used with the charging case.
The earbuds in the 2022 TONE Free series all have LG’s signature bacteria-killing UVnano charging case.
The auto-cleaning tech has been upgraded to provide even greater coverage for thorough sterilisation of all parts of the ear gels.
Like the previous LG TONE Free FP9, the earbuds can also function as a Bluetooth transmitter, letting users run an aux cable to devices that might lack wireless connectivity — like a treadmill — and still be able to use the earbuds.
The 2022 LG TONE Free T90 (S$329), T60 (S$229) and TF8 (S$299) are available now at LG official brand stores on KrisShop, Lazada, Shopee, as well as authorised retailers and distributors, including Audio House, Best Denki, ConnectIT, COURTS, Gain City, Goh Joo Hin, Harvey Norman, iStudio, Mega Discount Store, Parisilk, Stereo Electronics, Sprint-Cass and X Gear.
